A Woman

I am a woman with something to say

Whether you like it or not, listen anyway

This is not a joke, don’t you dare to laugh

I dont want your words when you ignore mine

I am a woman with a mind of my own

Capable of thinking and speech, just like you are

Don’t  you speak for me, or on my behalf

I don’t need your voice, just let me use mine

I am a woman, with my own talents

I can do math and science, never an inept

I don’t belong in the kitchen, but if you insist

Let me remind you where the knifes are kept

I am a woman, I do what I like

I can work all jobs, I can do all things

Women are not less smart, that’s just degrading

The world is for everyone, that’s what I think

I am a woman, I wish to succeed

Despite my gender, race, looks or beliefs

Because even though those things are part of me,

They don’t define me, I won’t let them do

I am a woman, I am not ashamed

I know my place and  I know my rights

Please note that I don’t care what you expect

I am a human being, worthy of respect
